2012 Event Schedule

All Times are CENTRAL time

Registration and Bib pickup: Registration and check-in will again be held at the Historic Ironwood Memorial Building (213 S. Marquette St.) again this year (see Maps for location) SISU Ski Fest's official race headquarters. Registration and bib/packet pickup will open on Friday January 13th from 4:00pm - 10:00pm and on Saturday January 14th from 7:00am - 8:30am (for racers). Identification must be brought to registration. Registration for Taste N Tour (limited to FIRST 250 REGISTRANTS!) will continue till noon at the Memorial Building.

Bib and Packet pick-up Saturday will continue until 1 hour before event:

42K table will close at 8:45 AM

21K table will close at 10:45 AM

TNT table will close at noon or when 250 limit is reached.

Ski Expo will be held at the Ironwood Memorial Building on Friday January 13, 2012 from 4 - 8 pm and Saturday January 14 from 8:30am - 4pm. Expo booths available for $75 for Fri & Sat, $30 for Non-Profits

Post - Race Food

Food will be available for the racers at the Memorial Building following the events. Please bring the food ticket that you received with your race packet. Come and enjoy some hot Mojakka (Finnish stew) cookies, beverages and camaraderie with friends after the race. Pasties will be available for purchase for you, your family and friends. We encourage your family and friends to dine at our local restaurants.

Parking

Parking is available throughout the downtown Ironwood area and parking lots will be marked “SISU PARKING” (view maps). If you park downtown before the race, you will need to take the shuttle bus to the start at ABR trails. Limited parking is available at the race start. It is strongly recommended that you park downtown and take the shuttle to the race start.

Transportation

Four shuttle buses will run from 7:45am to 12noon between ABR Trails and the downtown Ironwood bus station, kitty corner to the Ironwood Memorial Building at 235 E. McCleod. These busses will shuttle skiers back and forth every 15 minutes. After 12:00pm and until 4pm, there will be bus service back and forth but on a more limited basis between ABR and the bus station. The bus will drop off skiers at the ABR ticket booth;

Please give yourself plenty of time to get to the start line.

Taste N Tour participants will be bused to Norrie Park from the bus station between 12:00 and 1:30pm. Taste N Tour begins at 1:30 and skiers must leave Norrie Park food stop by 1:45pm to make it downtown before dark. All Taste N Tour participants must park downtown and ride the shuttle to Norrie Park. All participants must carry their skis vertically while boarding, riding and de-boarding in a safe and controlled fashion.

Top three overall winners 42K SISU Marathon (Classic and Freestyle) & 21K Heikki Lunta Half Marathon (Classic and Freestyle)in each category will be presented at the "Finnish line", soon after the top racers complete the race. Finishers of the race can find in the Memorial Building warm showers, food, and enjoy the ski expo!

Awards Ceremony: Once again the Beautifully Restored Ironwood Theatre will host the awards ceremony after the race. Doors open at 4:00pm with the ceremony running from 5:00 - 6:30pm. Individual age group awards, photo slide show of the race, great door prizes, refreshments and entertainment will be provided.

This year Conga Se Menne will be performing on Saturday night at 7:00 pm - after the Awards Ceremony. This is a free performance! All SISU racers, families, volunteers and locals are invited to hear this Finnish Reggae band. Conga Se Menne's musical style ranges from Blues, Funk, Latin, Reggae, Rock, Caribbean beats and ethnic Finnish sounds.congasemenne.com
