coordinating race activities for kids downtown Friday night
Race Day Transportation
coordinator of all busing to start line, parking
Taste N Tour
coordinator of the event, lining up the food stations, works with trail committee, arranges for other volunteers
After Race Food / Drink
makes sure this station is staffed. Goal is to have "Finnish stew" at "Finnish Line" Needs to make it happen, solicits volunteers.
Award Ceremony
(this also includes the stage for the awards, banner back drop) Arranges time, program, location. Presentation of awards
Ordering/ Making Awards
helps decide what awards to give, orders them
Start Line Coordination
Orders banners for Start Line, works with iTiming, works with busing, oversees Start Line operations, warming tent
"Finnish" Line Coordination
Helps with skier flow after the race, responsible for banner set up, media location at end, lines up the photographer for the event (skier's pictures to be taken at end of race).
Coordination with Downtown Businesses
keeps them in the loop so they capitalize on the opportunity, communication so they volunteer
Marketing to Racers/Publicity
Lindsay Piper, Will Andresen, responsible for PR, newspaper, radio, magazines. Also heads up the ads with local businesses so a Map of the Race, with advertising sponsors can be made & sold.
Emergency Ops
works with Ham Radio operators, Search & Rescue, Ski Patrol, police to ensure a safe race
Porta-Johns/Refuse
Collection, placement at Start Line, throughout course, Finnish Line, coordinates litter control
Volunteer Coordinator
heads up all volunteers, T-shirt ordering, oversees that enough people are solicited and helps placement
Bag Drop Off
at the Start Line, numbered bags will need to be brought into town at the Memorial Bldg for the racers so they have their personal belonging at the end. Box truck, or large vehicle needed to hold bags and transport them.
Vendor Coordination & Solicitation
for the Expo at the Memorial Bld (Fri night & Sat) this coordinator works with taking the vendor registrations, collect their fees, sets up their area in the Auditorium and makes sure they have everything they need for the Expo.
Racer Information Packet
heads up the stuffing of the bags. Bags need to be ordered, stuffed with racer freebies, other race event brochures, Noque, Paavo, Ore to Shore, etc
Racer Hospitality Coordinator/ Information Person
coordinates the Hospitality to welcome racers to the area, handles questions & answers, has a booth area in the Expo. Works with the Food Coordinator at the end of the race
Decorations
(downtown flags on light poles, Start Banners, Finnish Banners), coordinates with DIDA on having the poles in place for the banners, works with Start Line & Finnish Line coordinators to make sure we have the decorations for the event. Festive downtown flags for flag poles.
